“No way at this hour”

Sometimes I’m in a silly mood. I guess this is one of those times. It was encouraged I suppose by this Instagram meme I noticed yesterday containing a series of statements/questions (1-30) thrown out there to authors… by an author:

[From Instagram.]
I sense that is supposed to be undertaken relatively in-depth and over a month or months. Something, though, led me to think: I can do this all here in one go?

And so I have… answering each in order numerically below (and I have also cut out the original author’s identification from the original meme):

1. Video Selfie

No way at this hour.

2. WIP Pet or Animal

3. What If?

What If what?

4. Short Scene or Segment

Okay, if you insist:

5. Encourage a Writer

That’s not a reader’s job.

6. How I Refuel

I lift a glass after 5pm.

7. Writing Mentor

Here he is:

8. Fav Dessert

Oreos smothered in Chantilly cream. (I just made that up here right now, but I bet it would be great.)

9. WIP Theme

“Honor and friendships among the surviving trolls of the planet Ugubooguh, under the inspired leadership of Magaugu the wizard, as they venture to the mystical mountains of…” Uh, okay, honor and friendships, but as to the rest, yeh, you know that’s definitely not me.😂😂😂😂

10. I Wish I Wrote That

I’ve written That lots of times.

11. Odd Book Collection

Britannica Junior Encyclopedia (1975).

12. What I’m Reading

This meme.

13. Urban Setting

Bridgeport, Connecticut. (I don’t know, it was just the first that popped to my mind.)

14. Author Shout Out

15. This Inspires Me

I can’t name her!

16. My Dream Writing Life

Not getting a puzzled look when I answer that I write.

17. Fav Poet

You’d think I was being pompous.

18. Paperbacks or Ebooks?

Whatever people buy to use to read.

19. My Book Pitch

I heave some million-selling rubbish book out the window and knock its author unconscious. (My grandad taught me as a kid to throw an excellent curve ball.)

20. Today I’m Writing…

…and I wish I could jump out the window myself.

21. An Easter Memory

Attending church in Los Cristianos, Spain, and the priest thinking I was Spanish.

22. Join Our May Challenge!

I may or I may not.

23. Platform Building Tip

Start with a hammer and some nails.

24. Word Count Goal

As if readers give a sh-t care.

25. Series or Standalone?

[From the “Also by R. J. Nello page” to appear in Tomorrow The Grace.]

26. WIP Opening Line

“Mr. Rutherford, sir!” the young Irish woman called from across the way, near the carriage house.

27. Encouraging Review

“I’ve read worse…” (Like Oreos and Chantilly cream, I made that up; but since I avoid reading reviews I can’t say for certain someone somewhere hasn’t written that.)

28. Dictation Yea or Nay?

And have my wife overhear what will be in the book?

29. Stargazing

Hopefully, my novels don’t lead anyone to prefer to do so.

30. Join My Email List!

Your web site isn’t on this meme… so you expect me to visit your Instagram profile?

Hmm, I suspect I don’t really take these social media writer things seriously enough. 😉

Have a good weekend, wherever you are. 🙂

  1. Nothing I love more than a sense of humor! The book pitch and the WIP theme are my favorites. I would add number six in there as well, but personally, I never bend an elbow for less than two. 😂🍷 Some of your responses took me back to my childhood, silly things my Dad would say. Here are some:

    Car: “The door’s ajar.”

    Dad: “It’s not a jar; it’s a door!”

    Me: “Dad, guess what?”

Dad: “Okay, I’ll play your silly game, what?”

Me: “Dad, where are you going?”

Dad: “Crazy, want to come along?”

As so often occurs, blog posts, yours in particular, seem to inspire me to add to my WIP. Bless you for that, Robert. Have an amazing day . . . wherever you are! 😊

    1. Thank you, Laura! LOL! Glad to be of help! I think we can all take this at times too seriously. And we may take ourselves rather too seriously. I like to remind myself we are creating and can have some FUN with it all too!
