Two Tales And Two Centuries

I can’t remember off the top of my head the last time I did one, so it must have been quite a while ago. However, it’s June and full summer (in the northern hemisphere at any rate) is almost upon us. So I thought this might be a good time…

Yes, the beard is off. The major reason it is? She who is dearest to me, revealing: "It's as I imagine kissing a brush might feel."😜 . Okay, it's Friday and given previously I've put up paintings of lovely eighteenth century ladies, why not a handsome bloke of that era?🇫🇷🇬🇧🇺🇸It's only fair.📚🖌 . And how about an *unbearded* man? This is American diplomat William Short, painted by Rembrandt Peale in 1806, when Short was age 47.🇺🇸 . #humor #humour #painting #USA #France #diplomacy #Europe #travel #expats #classical #history #art #writing #authors #photo #photography #beards #Hertfordshire #England #novels #fiction #romance #writing #writersofinstagram #authorsofinstagram #fun #Friday #weekend

How about a book “promotion?”

My “18th century extravaganza,” the recently released Conventions: The Garden At Paris, is available on Kindle for just 99c US (and equivalents) for the next seven days. [UPDATE, June 18: It has been extended until June 26.]

Excerpt from “Conventions” on Kindle for iPad. “Baskerville” font. Click to enlarge.

A suggestion: the “Baskerville” font provides an “old-fashioned” look to the “old-fashioned” read, too.

Conventions is available as an ebook exclusively on Kindle, and will be for the foreseeable future.

Also, to take us forward from the 1790s to the 1990s…

Passports: Atlantic Lives, 1994-1995, my first book, also normally $2.99 US, is available on Kindle and other ebook platforms where it appears – Nook, iBook, and elsewhere: see here for the list – for 99c US (and non-US equivalents), or should be shortly, for the next week as well. [UPDATE, June 18: It has been extended until June 26.]

There’s nothing like some discounted beach, poolside, lounging in the garden, or relaxing around the house, holiday reading. 😉

Have a good day, wherever you are in the world. 🙂
