Avoid Social Media Junksters

Posted by

As you know, I don’t usually post twice here in one day; but I wanted to share this in a timely manner. Three accounts followed me on Twitter at some time earlier today. I noticed them a little more than an hour ago.

Three sudden new followers out of the blue all about the same time when you hadn’t tweeted anything for nearly 24 hours? That’s always suspicious. I screen captured them. Notice anything, uh, “interesting” about them?:

Nonsense accounts like those create so much noise it is becoming more and more difficult for real people to be reasonably “heard” on social media.

Do your best not to accidentally follow junk accounts on Twitter and elsewhere.

Always do a quick read of a timeline before you follow (or follow back) and attempt to ascertain if it is interacting with followers as a real person would, and that it isn’t just junk tweeting.

If it walks like sp*m, talks like sp*m, and looks like sp*m…. it’s probably sp*m.

Have a goodnight, wherever you are in the world. 🙂
