Laura had been born in upstate New York. She died August 26, 2004 on Long Island – 11 years ago now. Only 52 at the time, she’d died in her sleep of a previously undiagnosed cerebral aneurysm.
For those of us who grew up fans, she was like a local gal who’d “made it.” I saw her perform live once, and won’t ever forget it:

Thankfully, her music will always be with us. I was listening to this at one point yesterday on my iPad while proofing. I’ve always liked it – from 1990/91:
Indeed, most of us can identify with that. When you’ve lost someone you love, you realize …. never in a million years:

Have a good Thursday, wherever you are in the world. 🙂
How much do you know about Laura? Was she born in Westchester County or in Putnam County?

I only know I liked her music a lot when I was younger. And I remember her being from upstate NY. I think Westchester originally.

I have been doing a research of her early days, though her wikis, different timelines were a mess. It is exciting when you find her little brother Billy’s birth announcement from 1957, when internet say Laura was born…1957!

Laura graduated from Byram Hills High School in 1970. The high school was located in Armonk where Laura grew up. The local paper Patent Trader named all 116 students who graduated June 20, 1970. If Laura was born 1957, she was just 13 in 1970! I

Now, I’m totally confused. 😉

I am sorry destroying your Saturday. The guy from New York Post was also confused, though he didn’t believe me. But after a while he was on my side against the 1957-ers. And when he wrote this story about Laura was 52 and not 47, hell broke out from Laura’ official fanclub, management and even persons involved in the fan club. What they should to to me is another story. (The Swedish fan is me.) http://pagesix.com/2015/08/24/laura-branigan-was-52-not-47-when-she-died/

Don’t feel confused…Enjoy this old picture from 1954. Laura in mother Kathleen’s arms, father James besides and Laura’s siblings Jimmy (1945-1991) Susan and Mark in front. My favorite #1 http://northcastle.advantage-preservation.com/document/villager-1954-03-11-page-3

I do vaguely recall that when she died in 2004, nowhere seeing her age as 50+. When I wrote this post, I saw Wiki had her as 52. I had presumed I had remembered incorrectly.
Very good. I had not heard of the “controversy” over her age at the time of her death. Thanks for stopping by. You made the New York Post!

The latest about Laura is her birthplace. I have spent a lot of time searching for it, and the answer came at last. From Laura’s little brother Billy! He says both Laura and he were born in Mount Kisco, Westchester County. So Brewster or Armonk was instead Mt.Kisco. With that new information my research of Laura Branigan was ended. I have published my 2-year research of photos, news, documents, etc, at https://se.pinterest.com/born53/. If you like, please take a tour and be even more convinced over Laura’s early days. Maybe you can help me spread the words about Laura by telling your readers.
Greetings from Sweden
